Maja Wolińska - Kinomural

Maja Wolińska is an artist engaged in both academic and artistic work in the field of digital media, affiliated with the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław. In her practice, she employs time-based media such as film, video, photography, generative imagery, sound, and interactive forms. She works both in the studio—analyzing the structure and meanings of contemporary image media—and in external spaces, creating observational, para-documentary, and site-specific projects. In her recent works, she explores themes of deep ecology, focusing on overlooked urban ecosystems of synanthropic organisms.

Time Crystals

The title of the work refers to the concept of time crystals, proposed by Frank Wilczek in 2012. A time crystal is a quantum system whose ground state — the lowest energy state — exhibits a repetitive motion of particles.

In contrast to ordinary crystals, where the structure is ordered in space, here the order extends through time. Time crystals break time-translation symmetry, just as spatial crystals break spatial-translation symmetry, opening up new perspectives in the understanding of matter and quantum memory.
